if youre looking for other things to do with a raspberry pi, how about a retro gaming machine? the easy way is to download a pre-built image and just plug in a usb game controller (or a bluetooth one if you have one. i use an old ps3 controller for most things)

You can be a bad influence at times Wayne

My son (who knows about minecraft) asked me if the version can be updated because the version I installed was an old one but he was impressed I had got it runnning. Given I know nothing about Linux so was I!

My son has a ps4, xbox one, switch, 3ds, wiiu, ipad, tablet and a gaming pc...

He plays most of them, but at present the xbox with gamepass is the go to console

dont play minecraft myself, so cant really help with an answer to that, sorry!

I second this we have Pc,playstations,xbox & switch
ds prefers the ps4 for minecraft

Playstation or xbox will be have more cheaper games available but switch has more age friendly/appropriate games

Our switch gets very little use mostly down to the fact that the decent games are really pricey. dd did buy the new animal crossing this week so she's been playing that the last few days but it the first time in months anyones used it.

Minecraft can also be played cross platform too online with friends, plus fortnite etc

What ever you do, aviod the xbox digital version, ie the one without the dvd drive... As your stuck to buying over priced non physical games..
