Have you checked the reviews and Google Maps for LA explorer?

Its not a place I would stay, its more a backpackers hostel than a hotel and I wouldnt call the location great.

This is what it looks like on Google Maps streetview

I am a solo female traveler and I use public transport in LA, underground and bus. I usually stay in places which are beside an underground station, usually along The Red Metro Line. I stay in budget places too, so I understand but I would try to find somewhere different. Yes this area is not far from LAX airport, but thats about 40 minutes drive to Hollywood in one direction, and about an hour to Disneyland in another direction about 30 minutes drive to Santa Monica in another direction.

I can give you some suggestions for places I have stayed at which are budget friendly but far nicer and in better locations

Comfort Inn Santa Monica
Santa Monica Motel
Backpackers Hostel Santa Monica
Kawada Hotel Downtown LA, near Little Tokyo
Travelodge Hollywood Vermont and Sunset
