Hi from what must be a reasonably similar location to you.

So we have done indirect from Bristol and Exeter a few times. Never Southampton because by the time we got there we would almost be at Heathrow (where we usually fly from).

The big issue now is there are almost no flights from Exeter or S’mpton since Flybe went under. So I’ve basically discounted those airports for now.

I have usually found Bristol to only have two stop flights at inconvenient times so haven’t done that for some years.

It was the same for Exeter to be honest but I lived with that because I could be home five minutes after getting my case off the carousel.

So, disappointingly, I’m thinking Heathrow will continue to be a better option until some flights have been restored to the south west

You can normally fly from your local airport, and you clear US immigration in Dublin, so when you arrive into Orlando you are treated as a domestic flight so you can just collect bags and be on your way.

BA holidays normally offer the Aer Lingus flights so you can get it as a package via them.
This is a good idea if you can find a local airport this works from.

I have tried many times over the years because I love the idea of clearing customs and immigration but I have never found flights that worked (massive connecting times or two stops ie U.K. - NY - MCO from Bristol).

It may have changed as I’ve not tried to do this route to Orlando for a few years but that was my experience and I tried for years to make it happen.
