Tui reviewing dates

TUI are cancelling up to the 11th June at the moment, any idea when they will update the date?
Do they review weekly or just randomly

Do you mean July?
We are supposed to go on 11th July and can change but I’m holding out for a refund as think it’ll be cancelled. :-(

No they are cancelling up until 11th June at the moment, just wondering when they will change the dates as it means I can change my accommodation that I’ve booked separately free of charge

Not necessarily. It is up to the individual.

But in reality you could see their demand go through the floor, so possibly some consolidation?

I have flights booked. Wanting to move / cancel my accomm, but waiting til the last minute possible as don't want insurance problems.

I have been trying to see how my insuranc stands if I have a tui flight only DIY holiday. I know some insurance companies are carrying forward the insurance if you have a package booked and shift to next year. Might be an option if they are flexible.

But flight prices are up for next year already.

The last extension of cancellations (up to 11 June) was done around 2 weeks before the end of the previously announced cancellation period (it was announced end of April, until that point the cancellations ran until 14 May).

I would imagine it’s being reviewed constantly, but announcements are made periodically when it’s clear operations cannot happen for a given period. While I doubt Boris’ big announcement tomorrow will shed much actual light on the restart of travel in terms of dates, it is a possibility and either way will likely inform Tui’s thinking. At a guess, there would be an announcement within the next 2 weeks.

FWIW, and pain me as it does to say it, I’d be pretty surprised if there is not a further extension of cancelled operations beyond 11 June. Before Tui or anyone else can make a decision, there would need to be announcements by the FCO lifting the advice against all but essential travel to relevant destinations, and a decision by those countries to allow people coming from the UK to enter (far from certain, given how UK handling of the pandemic is perceived in many countries). This is when it will get a bit more political.

I would love to think it’s possible, but 11 June seems optimistic. How much further cancellations are extended is more difficult to guess.

I would find it hard to believe countries would open their borders fully for holidays. Countries are only tiptoeing out of lockdown. We have a holidays at the end of July (Balearics, annual insurance, package and paid on credit card some time ago so the money should come back to me) and would be really really surprised if it goes ahead.

Just popped on to say Spain ( which includes the islands) has now imposed a 14 day quarantine for all arrivals
