Would your insurance not cover this if the resort is closed?
Ive used David’s before and checked that my insurance covered renting the points - definitely worth pursuing. |

I think if the resort is closed Davids DVC should refund me.
The points are from this year and can be banked as I believe? I feel that the customer care and service has spoke volumes and if I ever in future want to rent points I will only do one or two nights again and only through Dibbers |

So sorry and while chances are that BWV will be open for September, it might not be for UK residents. In that case one would hope David will work with you and the owner to try and rebook. But if the owners points aren't flexible enough then is there anything in your contract with David's that states you or David's can't re-rent that reservation so to try and recoup some of your outlay? The owner would then only need to make name changes and currently there's only just a few odd nights in a studio during the first weeks of Sept.
But if BWV doesn't open then the owners points will be returned and therefore they should be looking to rebook you to a later date, but if that's not an option then your fall back will be insurance. Good luck. |

I have always wanted to try renting points from Davids (or similar), but was put off when I found almost no UK travel insurance will cover you. Some say they will but burred in the T&Cs are clauses they could use. One company i spoke to said they may only cover UK sourced points purchased through a company and not private.
One insurance company said they would only cover loss of points if you can prove you used every means possible to recover loss from the seller. They knew of DVC points and Davids and said they wouldnt classify Davids as the seller, but a middle man matching buyers to sellers. This would mean you have to prove you tried recovering costs from the points owner. Since Corona I dont think I will ever risk it.
