Could DVC be seen as more valuable.

With dining plans gone for the time being, no new rooms available to book, and what appears to be hefty price rises next year will DVC points be more valuable than ever?

When Coronavirus broke, I thought the value of DVC could take a hefty hit, now I’m not so sure.

I was thinking it will still probably boil down to the economy and continuing demand for WDW which is still an unknown quantity.

I have a December 1 bed booked for Boardwalk and can envisage a situation where we don’t know if we can go 30 days out, and therefore basically lose the points into holding.

But I’m thinking I could probably rent out that reservation to the domestic market very easily if this happens, maybe even at a premium if the demand for rooms is there given the product is now off sale so to speak?

Yes, I think so.

One thing DVC has given us is longevity, I've never been concerned about it being of lesser value, just watched it get more and more popular despite whatever's happening in the world.

Who knows? I definitely hope so. My DVC has been a beacon of light for me in some turbulent times over the past 17 years since we first bought in.

The only thing that is certain is that nothing is certain in these troubling times

Fingers crossed you are right. For international travelers who may be limited in travel for the next few years it will give a option other than loosing points. we love our DVC and will be gutted if we don't get back for a while but knowing you have good options helps 😀

I think especially if they have to limit park numbers, as they have to allow dvc bookings

I hope so as I have some BLT points I’ll most likely need to rent out.

I just don’t know. I wondered this originally but if the economic impact in the US is as bad as it’s looking to be (I know we have similar issues but a better support network) that may depress accommodation prices considerably (though they might mothball a hotel or two I guess, like they have done before - I think)

So many unknowns - is the recovery going to be U, V or W shaped (or something else ...)

ETA after the last credit crisis I got an AP rate of $109 / night at AKL. Mods were well under $100. No idea what the rates are today but a lot higher?

We have had points up with David's for three weeks. We were not quick enough the other day to get a booking but I am not sure if this is slow for them
