Esta - sorry

Hello

I'm an idiot and probably know the answer but here goes...

I've just completed 3 esta applications. One of us has a middle name but did not put it on the application.

Is there a definite answer on if middle names should be included?

To be completely sure, include it.

The website says to include it but whether it's being enforced yet is a different matter, not that it'll make any difference if they suddenly decide to start enforcing it.

Yes, as clearly stated on the ESTA form, middle names should be included if they are included on your passport. And the official response will state that you must correctly include all required information (which will include the middle name if it's on your passport) in your ESTA form.

Having said that, personally if it was me and I'd realised I'd missed off my middle name, I wouldn't fill in the form again. I'd just leave it as it is. At the moment, no one has been stopped from travelling to, or entering, the States because of a lack of middle name on their ESTA. Therefore I wouldn't bother reapplying. However, please don't take a random person's suggestion on the internet as legal advice.

You put whatever is shown in your son’s passport (as it explains on the ESTA form).

So if the Given Names field in his passport include all 4 middle names then include them. If it only shows 1 middle name then just include that one. If there are no middle names listed then don’t include any middle names.

Basically, make sure the ESTA and passport match.
