When the OP talks of national events being put on hold I think she was referring specifically to amateur boxing events, such as the one that provoked her concern in the first place, not major sporting fixtures.

I’d say it’s an over reaction.
I completely understand that events like that are a concern with so many people gathering from different areas but it’s most likely to just be a cold. I do appreciate it may begin with cold like symptoms though I can only recall having flu once, possibly twice and I felt like every bone and joint in my body ached. We had sky high temperatures, shivers and shakes and we had timers set for pain relief. I don’t think the cold symptoms were even really on our radar tbh . Both OH and I had it although he was a day or two behind me. I went outside to hoover the car when it was all but gone and OH actually called me (on my mobile) to come back in because he was shaking so violently and was quite alarmed by it. Flu is completely unlike a cold Edited at 11:09 AM. |

For what it’s worth,I think OP did the right thing. The rugby on Saturday involving Italy has been put on hold. The OP has an immune compromised child. I’ve had flu and it didn’t come on suddenly, it took about 36 hours, starting with a dry cough and muscle pain. I do hope those who shrug off the risks are taking sensible precautions (hand washing, covering mouth when coughing etc) - we need to be aware and not behave as if it can never happen to us. I’m very disturbed by posters (on other threads) who say it’s ‘only’ a threat to the young, the old and the immune compromised as if they don’t matter!

I know, I was saying the coranavirus has flu like symptoms. Hence saying it was an over reaction.

I think it's an overreaction too, where does it end though, you now keep your son home, but you and the rest of the family have had contact with him and I presume you'll still be going out and about, shopping, working etc🤔
