But I should be able to claim on insurance so hopefully get about £600 back.

Bad thing is we really enjoy this cruise line and now I’m thinking a cruise next year instead of Florida! ☹️

Did not think we would be in shorts and t-shirts playing in the pool in the sea between Greenland and Iceland.
So glad I booked this amazing deal when I found it!

That’s an incredible price for 4 people on a 16 night cruise in school holidays! Really interesting itinerary too. Do you mind me asking when you booked?

I booked on 7th January 2024. The price was originally £3938 I booked direct with princess but they price matched Seascanner down to the 3938 for me.

However on 9th May just before I had to pay the full balance I found it on Seascanner for £3230. I asked if I could pay the £100 to move it and they couldn’t in the system cos of the roll away bed. I also asked if I could cancel, lose my £200 deposit and then rebook but again the system wouldn’t allow cos of this roll away bed.
The full balance was due on 14th May or something like that and we were going on holiday on 12th so I ended up paying it and sending off a complaint to deal with when I got back.
Lovely lady called me, refunded me and got everything sorted.
So I ended up paying £3496 with the refund and got $83 onboard credit so it all worked out at the £200 deposit I would have lost and the May price I saw it for.

Not quite sure how I found a deal that price for August but glad I did.

Also booked a new one for October 25 on Princess in those school holidays for £4100 for 14nights.

Unfortunately today in Isafjordur has been cancelled too so another sea day. Going a bit stir crazy I want to get off as the sea is rough. We are heading to Reykjavik now hopefully will dock there as that was the one port we actually booked this for.

Could I ask, what is the state of the Caribbean Princess at the moment (furnishings/fittings etc)? We’ve sailed on her many times and doing a 20 day Caribbean cruise next year - I’m not sure if she’s due a refit, so just curious.

Oo fingers crossed for you. We had to overnight In akureyri last year, lost a day in Reykjavik then also lost Guernsey due to the weather. Know what you mean about going stir crazy the though.

I’ve heard the refit was supposed to be in April and was pushed to this October. It’s got some wear and tear I’ll be honest. It’s not a ship that is exactly to my taste decor wise and you can see some of the things that they need to do but this is the oldest ship I’ve been on (out of 8 ships we have done) you wouldn’t have really thought it. I’ve only noticed a few things like they cleaned balconies and the paint chipped off and the doors on the bathrooms near the pools are needing new ones.
I’d come on this ship again

Thanks - the older ships tend to have ‘gloomier’ decor (dark wood panels, etc) compared with more recent ships. I do prefer the walk round promenade deck though.
