Electrical purchases

Hi all

thinking about buying any electrical items. Will they work in the UK if I take the plug off and put a uk one on? Also will things like a PS4 or Xbox one work?

You will need to check the appliance to see if it works on both voltages. Most electronics have dual voltage chargers.
If you are taking any electrical items to the USA they will not work on 125v unless the are also dual voltage.

Must be dual voltage you can often check labels they will say something like 120~230 v
I'm sure the ps4 will work but Xbox one needs a step down transformer. Sure there's threads open on consoles.

Please don't just switch plugs over. You could irreparably damage the electrical device or worse electrocute yourself! You absolutely must establish that it is a dual voltage device capable of operating on an AC or DC supply. An alternative would be to buy a voltage convertor when you get back to the UK but these can be a bit pricey and might outweigh any savings you may have made. Just be careful!

Also be very wary about the warranty. Anything Sony bought in the US will not be covered in the UK if something goes wrong. Take it from someone with experience of this! It's simply not worth it.
