My Mums got bad arthritis in her fingers, is there any recommendations to what she could we pick up in Walmart/CVS?

You can buy Aleve (Naproxen) over the counter, not sure if you can buy this over the counter in the UK, you never used to be able but things have changed since I lived over there. You can also buy ibuprofen, which is probably not any cheaper than you can buy over there but the difference in buying it in the US is you can buy it in bulk, I buy 1200 tablets at Sams Club or Costco for $11 you can also bulk the liquid caps but they are more expensive.

I wouldn't buy Naproxen over the counter unless you've actually been prescribed it unless for short term use. Long term it can cause issues with stomach ulcers and more and you are sometimes prescribed omeprazole or similar to counter act any side effects.

I have arthritic fingers, 4 artificial pip joints etc & take NSAIDS & Omeprazole, which you can also buy over the counter there.

Has your mum tried Flexeseq gel from Lloyd’s? Not cheap but it’s on offer at the moment. It’s only temporary relief but it does work for me.

Please check for any interactions with other meds your mum may already be taking, or conditions she may have, just because you can buy it over the counter doesnt mean it will be safe for every individual!

I’ve recently started using this for osteoarthritis in my hips, I’m finding in the main it works probably 90% of the time x

Absolutely!

In addition to the previous comments in the thread...

Omeprazole mentioned above must not be taken with Clopidogrel for instance.

You should (unless advised by a doctor) avoid Ibuprofen with either with low dose aspirin (it negates the blood thinning aspects that daily aspirin is taken for!), aspirin/NSAIDs in general inc. Naproxen.

Some interactions have only come up recently as well, so just because people "have always had" does not mean they should continue to...
