Mobile Is it risky not booking flight seats? £35 pp each way

Me again :-)

Just wondering what is peoples opinions on whether to book flight seats (at £35 pp) per way , or risk it until 24 hr book in.

There is 7 of us going so will pricey to book the seats, wanting to chance it for the 24 hr check in BUT if there is literally no chance we can be together we may consider booking seats.

Will be flying sept 2020 if that makes a difference. (Maybe Sept not as busy for flights so more chance of getting to choose seats... ?)

Who are flying with ?
With Virgin you can select your seats free of charge unless you wanting seats in the bubble (£35) exit row about £59.
If it’s the bubble you need to be quick as they go straight away, so the chance of 7 together will be a hard find

It really depends on whether you want to sit together or don’t mind being split up. If the former, you may as well book your seats now as I have never heard of airlines reducing seat prices. If the latter, take a chance and you may be able to sit together but as smaller groups.
You pay your money OR take a chance.

We left it until the 24 hours before and we had been allocated 4 together near the front, there were plenty of other options too so we were able to change them to a 2 in front 2 behind which is what we wanted these were the £72 seats to pre book as well so I'm glad we stuck it out. The airlines get enough of our money as it is so I won't give in out of principal (having said that I don't have little ones so we don't mind if OH has to sit on his own!)

I think for 7 of you if you want to be guaranteed together, I would book. If you don’t mind be separated in smaller groups, I would risk it.

Personally I would never consider booking seats if there is a charge.

If it matters pay basically. That’s the only way to assure you’re together. May well be fine but no one can guarantee you that.
