According to my mother-in-law... (just for fun)

DMIL (88) is staying with us just now after a fall. I love her to bits but being in close proximity for a few days has me almost reaching for the gin...

According to my mother-in-law... ITV3 is the only channel worth watching.

Also using a mop is a lazy woman's way of washing the floor.

So, over to you dibbers, what pearls of wisdom does your mother-in-law come away with?

My mother in law is fab and lovely... but not that long ago she did admit that it was my job to have the dinner on the table ! I was like ... I’m out working all day exactly like your son - it’s not my sole job ... her response ... well so was I and I could manage it lol

Apart from her complete racism at times and her need to inform you if you in her opinion that you have put on weight, its her need to tell us what shops sell as we drive past them.

Oh looks there's WH Smith they sell newspapers etc.

Don't start me on my FIL. Whats for you won't go by you is his favourite. Makes no sense at all.

When I was pregnant and anaemic she always used to try and make me drink Guinness for the iron. I used to have to forcefully tell her that I would rather eat foods rich in iron and take supplements but she used to go on and on at me! Wound me up at the time but we laugh about it now.

My mil once criticized me for having my family over for a buffet for Boxing Day lunch. Herself, fil, and bil had been over all day Christmas Day for dinner and tea. Her reasoning - hubby needed a rest! He hadn't lifted a finger. (After 45 years I now have him trained).

My MIL worst cook ever ever used to say that will be tasteless if you didn't add a ton of salt or sugar
Oh and she'd have had the sprouts and turkey on for Christmas dinner

My mil is roughly the same age as my grandparents. I get a lot of "in my days..." "We need to go back to when we were younger". Drives me and the kids insane.
