Mobile Changing lens on glasses

Hi all

Anyone have any experience with using an online company to reglaze their glasses? My prescription has changed enough that I need new ones, but the frames were expensive and I'm still happy with them. Vision express quoted £69.99 per pair to change the lenses, I have two glasses and one pair of prescription sunnies so that's a lot of money! And that's without any extras like thinning which one pair needs.

I've come across several online companies doing it for a fraction of the price- lensology (Also seem to be called reglazemyglasses?), new lenses, glasses direct etc.

Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with having this done and any company you'd reccomend?

My Son has used an online company. Found them very good.

As an aside we are taking my Wife's Revo sunglasses to Walmart or Penney's in May to be re glazed with her new prescription. They have already confirmed they will do it.

However thinking about it we may try one of these UK online places instead.

Is it much cheaper to have them done in the US?

From enquiries we have made about half the price. I think the mark up by UK opticians is too much.
I know they have overheads such as the premises and staff etc but it seems to me that we the public are a captive audience to be exploited.

I’ve used Direct Sight before. I had some designer frames and wanted the lenses changed to a new prescription.

No problems at all and would use again.

Yeah when you compare the cost in high street opticians to somewhere like Glasses Direct the difference is huge. I resent being asked for £120+ to change lenses and have them thinned on one pair of glasses!
