Dilemma

Complicated one.

I have a voucher for the cost of my deposit on a BA package LHR-MCO-LHR with accom at LBV resort and spa. This was for a trip 6-16 Dec 2020 which was cancelled.

I’d like to rebook for same dates 2021. However, we now live in Scotland so we would need to add on EDI flights at either end.

So far so good. But my dilemma is, what if BA go back to LGW by then and I have EDI-LHR-LGW-MCO? I don’t want to trek across London for connecting flights.

So, should I just book LHR-MCO-LHR and add on EDI flights later, thus risking it not being a ‘through ticketed’ trip?

Or just take the risk of flights still being from LHR and book it as a through trip?

I know, first world problems! Any advice?

to be honest I would have thought the possibility of LGW being used this year are low as it will take them a while so would probs take the risk of flights still being LHR

There are no LGW - MCO flights showing in the winter timetable so I would rebook as as an EDI-LHR-MCO return. In the unlikely event that they switch from LHR to LGW, BA would then be responsible for changing your booking to something that work.

Quite often the EDI-London-MCO return ticket is cheaper than just the London - MCO, go figure. That might be worth taking into consideration as well.

When I was looking to move our dates to November 21, I was speaking to BA on the phone as I wanted to extend our stay by 3 extra nights, however when she put in a range of dates through end of Oct to end of Nov (we have plenty of flexibility) she could get flights out of Gatwick but each return flight was coming back into Heathrow, we are aware things could change in 11 months but for the same price we could book Gatwick to Tampa and return which took away the concern about whether or not BA would be back to using Gatwick to MCO routes.

Book it from Edinburgh right from the start. Separate bookings for the Edinburgh-London leg will add unnecessary cost and stress to the trip.
if it does change to Gatwick then I'm sure BA will offer a free change for you to avoid the transfer.
