I had caved and booked an appointment to get one fitted, changed my mind and cancelled it... I’ve got enough on with the alexa and dots monitoring us without adding another spying device...

Your smart meter will not be recording your intimate conversations unlike Alexa😀

I like ours, I don't think it does much to save us money so I'm not sure they're making the intended impact in terms of consumption etc, but particularly with working from home it's piece of mind for me to see what we are using and not wait for a quarterly bill.

Just data indicating the hours you are likely to be out of the house... or when you are in for telemarketers calls...

Once data is out there it gets used in ways we do not always anticipate. The growth of energy data mining companies is "interesting" biggest UK one :

Accurate readings, no estimates, no need for me to do the readings and send them off. Requires no intervention from me. Can’t understand why anyone would have strong feelings either way

We have no mobile phone signal at home, so wouldn't be able to use a smart meter anyway

I love mine. It makes me careful with electricity etc. I also hated when the old meter had to be read, letting a complete stranger in the house is not my idea of fun.
Now it just does its thing and I have nothing to do with it. Simple.

I don’t understand this advert either, certainly can’t understand why it would save money! It might make some people more aware of switching appliances and heating on.
