We’re 6 adults so won’t pay for seats anyway, but if I can get outbound for free I’ll take that!

If the BA flight number is 4 digits rather than 3 LHR ORD then it’s AA plane so free , Chicago to Las will be AA so definitely free.
Call BA and ask for the AA locator then book either at aa.com or ring them (there’s a U.K. AA res number)

If you have children in your booking BA will allocate seats together about a week out anyway and if just adults you can book bang on the 24 hours prior Mark. We always travel term time so just keep an eye on the seat maps , never paid yet
So grab the AA operated flights now and any BA just keep an eye on.

As it is virtually impossible to speak to BA at the moment I’ll put that on the back burner. Thanks everyone for the advice and info.

I have a package booked with BA and booked seats for free on our one AA operated flights. In Manage My Booking click on Choose Seats. At the bottom of the page it shows the BA reference and the AA reference. I then went to AA.com and chose the seats. They show up on MMB on BA.com once comeleted.
