check code for Hiring a car.
Just wondering if anyone been asked to provide a check code when hiring a car in Orlando. Just reading through my documents sent through by virgin and they recommend getting a check code from the DVLA so the hire company can verify your driving history if they need to.
I just generated mine just in case and it took couple minutes to register and my full driving history came up. Lucky all is in tip top condition with no points. gov.uk/view-driving-licence |

Hi. Sorry but a total waste of time. Never been asked for and never will be. All they require is that you have a valid licence and aren't disqualified

As Mr Morrow has said absolutely no need for a DVLA code. Nobody on the DIBB has ever been asked for it when hiring in the USA.
They have no interest in your driving record. They never asked for the paper part of a plastic D/L either before they were abolished. Mick

Hiya IWANT2GO - as per MrT and Gadgey Mick, the US/law enforcement do not recognise our driving penalties and therefore have no interest in a DVLA code. Same with the faux pas by Gov Scott in 2013, you do not require an IDP (International Driving Permit) either. Your photocard dl or old style paper dl with additional ID is ample.
Have a smashing holiday

Interestingly, I’ve just cut and pasted this from Virgins Car Hire T&Cs
. Alamo does not recognise the UK endorsement system so as long as the licence is a full, valid licence and in date it will be accepted by Alamo So there you go...not required, as others say |
