Parent swap/fast pass question?

Out youngest can't ride fop and a few other rides, but I booked fp for him anyway. Our oldest wouldn't do fop at first but now loves it (a shame as he missed out on riding it twice). Last time we entered fp queue (240 min standby wait eek!) using his band. I then swapped his band for his brothers and he rode it with my wife. While queuing I saw a few people pretty much walk onto the ride, mostly with kids. I've tried setting up parent swap a couple of times, but we ended up just fp queuing separately. I don't really know how parent swap works. Is it just something for standby queuing? Would he be allowed on twice with each parent if we did it? Or would he be allowed on once and then 2nd parent gets to ride quickly but on their own? When we've tried setting it we've been told having fp we don't need to do it.

Not exactly stand-by queuing but somewhere in between the 2, you ask for parent swap, they will give you a return time equivalent to the current standby line. Return & go through the FP line, then next adult get's to go through the FP line & yes he get's to ride twice

If you are using FP, the return time will be immediate. FOP and SDD both have specific cast members near the entrance with iPads to do rider switch, they ask who is waiting and scan their magic band plus anyone else riding again (up to 2) to add a special FP valid until the end of the day. I have told my two older boys how lucky they are to get to do the big rides twice because they have a little brother!
