Hi
We haven't hired for a while now but last time used Apple Scooters and Buena Vista Scooters, The reason we don't hire anymore is that we worked out that it was only a little more expensive to buy a new scooter here in the UK and take it with us, airlines usually transport them free of charge if you contact their special Assistance team.
Just had a quick look on Apple's website and a 21 day hire of a Pride Go Go Elite Traveller Plus would cost $205 for the first 7 days then $25 a day after that so $555 in total approx £437
Compared to Betterlife who currently have the same scooter to buy in the UK for £630 excl VAT (you wouldn't need to pay the VAT if it is for someone with an illness or disability which means they need to have a sooter.)
Even if you only use it for two holidays it still works out cheaper to buy, although of course you would have it to use at other times as well.
Ultimately it depends on what model you need and how expensive they are to buy, but I have always found Betterlife quite competitive once you click into the scooter you are looking at, their listings sometimes initially show the RRP which is much higher and not the actual price you would pay.
Hope this helps.
