Stunning Scenery, wildlife and our "Wonder"ful Disney friends! - Rockies & Alaska Aug 2014 - Day 10
Tuesday 26th August
We woke about 6am, but went back to sleep. Apparently the fog horn was sounded in the night, but we must have slept through it! We had breakfast in Beach Blanket and then went off to meet Elsa and Aana! We had got our tickets as soon as we had boarded yesterday - it beats a 7 hour wait at Disneyworld which I heard was the norm! We then queued for Sophia the First - really?! Our girls are 13 and 10 - I took photos, but was not allowed to share these with anyone! We then went back to our room before going off to watch Walt Disney Bears in the main theatre which was very good. Buffet lunch was in Parrot Cay which was very busy. The kids went back to the room and we to watch a presentation by Doug on Alaska's bears. It was very interesting, so if you get a chance to go to any of his presentations while on board, they are worth a visit. When we came out, we met the girls who had had photos taken with Donald and Daisy. We went to the Sea Lounge and did Disney Music Trivia. We were sat next to a man who was on his own who obviously knew his Disney and scored full marks! We popped out on deck and saw people were swimming, so we called the girls in the room and told them to get swimming stuff on. Was amusing seeing the Disney staff being in their full winter gear and the girls in their swimwear! They were freezing. The went to go on the slide, but our eldest was slightly too tall. Our youngest went on, but said she was cold (I think her photo proves this!) Love this photo - hubby eating an ice-cream while our daughter shivers! Finally gave in and went back to the room to warm up! We dressed up for formal night and made our way to the Golden Mickeys picking up our complimentary cocktails - Cosmo and Yellowbird. The girls were interviewed on the Red carpet before the show and our eldest sang part of a song. It was shown live in the theatre and after that a few people around the ship recognised her and complimented her. We went into the atrium where the captain and his officers were mingling. Got a glass of wine and queued to have photo with Captain Fabian who is from Argentina. We chatted to Peter the entertainments manager who is from Switzerland, but has lived in Florida for 30 years and has worked for Disney since 2006. We had dinner in Tritons and it was the Golden Mickey's menu. It was much easier to hear each other talk as Parrot Cay was too noisy. Our eldest had Scallops and the rest of us had crispy cheesy ravioli. Our youngest then had a salad with smoked turkey and the rest of us had broccoli and blue cheese soup, but I didn't get any photos of that course. I'm sure the people next to us thought we were mad taking photos of all our food! For main, our eldest had crispy cheese ravioli, youngest had chicken breast and hubby and I had New York Steak. For dessert, the girls had chocolate cake, hubby had a strawberry sundae and I had the selection again which had chocolate cake, creme brûlée and raspberry cheesecake. The girls went off to register with karaoke while we went to wavebands to watch adult version of Buckets and Boards. They were very good. Our cruise was the only Wonder one they were on, but they have since been on lots of Disney cruises. I have joined their Facebook page and if you get chance to see them, go for it, they are very funny and talented! We went to meet the girls in Studio Sea for karaoke and watched our eldest sing Reflection from Mulan. She had never sung that before, but did a great job. We went back to the room where there was a towel bear, the girls toys were watching us from the pull down bed and we put the clocks back an hour, so a bit of a lie in. Great day. I love that your daughters still wanted to meet characters.
Your dinner looks so good, especially that ravioli. Much better than the plain ham sandwich I am eating now!

Wow great day - I always wondered on the 'Alaskan' cruises if you could still use the pools and slides etc. I bet that water was freezing! All good fun though
And the fog horn sounding... would have been very interesting to see what it looked like at sea in thick fog!

There were plenty of people in the pools, but my girls couldn't handle it for too long and I didn't brave it at all!
The temperature of the pool was 70 degrees plus, but it was when you got out you felt it! |
