Recommend a car

Travelling as 2 adults, 1 child and a baby. Looking for a car for 1 week at the end of the holiday which will include a drive down to Miami. We'll have a pushchair and a fair amount of luggage. I expect at least 4 large case (we are allowed 10 in total on the flights!)

Could anybody recommend a car category?

We have previously hired intermediate SUVs. Last time we were given a Jeep at the hotel where we collected the car from. Didn't like this so took it to MCO and swapped for a Rav 4 which was great. Cannot recall the make and model from the first time. Happy to look at other categories this time but will need room for luggage.

Also looking for other days which we were thinking of doing as odd days here and there. Staying onsite so will be using Disney transport in the main. Won't need room for luggage but will need for pushchair. Could probably manage with something small, but perhaps would like something nice to drive as well, so maybe a bit of a toy rather than just a means of getting from A to B.

This is easy as your luggage precludes all saloon cars. Plus there is the chair as well.

For ease of access for a baby seat an SUV or a 7 seater all day long - less bending.

Personally in your situation I would go for a full size SUV as I detest the 7 seaters albeit for size they are the best

With 2 kids plus buggy and lots of luggage I would only be looking at a full size SUV. That way you can fit everything and everyone in easily!

Options (that we have tried!):

Tahoe/Yukon are the same car underneath, Yukons temd to be better spec than Tahoes. Nice burbly V8 under the bonnet. Extremely thirsty (lucky if you average 15mpg) but then gas is cheap as chips.

Ford Expedition - has an interesting turbocharged V6 "ecoboost" engine which we found gave it a surprising turn of speed, mostly because of the massive torque. More like 18-20mpg on average, but less character than the V8.

+1

I personally loved the acceleration of the 3.5 V6 Turbocharged EcoBoost in the Navigator (a Posh Expedition) this year but missed the iconic warbling sound of the small block V8s fitted to the General's Tahoes/Yukons and Escalades. While the General's have more Cubic Capacity in their engine size, they are actually very noticeably slower to accelerate out on to highways than the V6 EcoBoosts fitted to the Expedition/Navigator

But overall, think you'll be better off enjoying anyone of these instead of a seven seater minivan - especially with a long road trip planned

Thanks for the feedback.

1 day rentals are as follows.

Int SUV £28
Standard SUV £29
Full Size SUV £54
Luxury SUV £120

Might juggle things around to get a smaller car for a few days and then get a larger SUV for the last day or two for the airport run.

Dodge Grand Caravan or Chrysler Voyager were great and very flexible

We had Santa fe. 7 seater, back 2 seats fold down to give plenty of room for cases. Not as big as Tahoo which we had last year. Also like the Ford Escape
