fast pass and rider switch

Going to Disney with husband, 10 year old daughter and almost two year old son. We will be relying on rider switch for some rides because of my son.

Remember last time we went in 2009( in a much larger group of 12) we were able to use the machine for fast passes for half of our group then used the rider switch for the other half to go on after them and they didn't need fast passes themselves. So basically we were able to spread our fast passes further.

Is this still possibly. So can I book two fast passes for say a ride for my daughter and her dad then use rider swap to go on with daughter without me needing a fast pass.

Didn't know that the rider switch could be used within a week too. We will use it on the day as only visiting each park once but good to know we can go and come back in case my son needs a nappy change or feed.

Sounds to good to be true.
