Another uber question

Ok so I've downloaded the app for the first time it will not let me enter a code for a free ride, it gives me a code for refer a friend so I've got my wife to do it, it gives her a �10 free ride, can she only use this in the uk? It says once she uses her ride then I get a free one.
How do I get it to work in the USA or can she us this ride inthe USA and then I can get my free ride there as well.

I'd be interested in the answer to this one as we will be using Uber in Orlando and I've not even used it in the UK.

you can't use a sterling code for a ride in the US, it needs to be a dollar code. I had no trouble starting off my Uber account with a dollar code (I googled for a suitable one) but I set my account up on my laptop first, then downloaded the Uber app on my phone and logged in (all before I left the UK).

Do you put this code in now or just before you are going to use Uber? I mean do you set yourself up in the uk so it's good to go in Orlando or wait till your there

you don't need to wait til you're there, I set up my Uber account (with the dollar code for a free first ride up to $20 value) before I left the UK, I think it was about a month before.
