is 4K relly a large debt these days, I know people who owe 10 times that and are still happy with it

OP I would wait until next year as I think it would be more enjoyable than going 4months after having a new baby.
you would need a serious bad credit rating to not get 0% most cards off it these days, i know my 3 do

Can't agree with advocating getting into debt.

The reason we've not managed to get to WDW as a family yet is due to paying off debt but once it's gone we'll be able to afford to go every year (if we want) however it'd be so easy just to book it on a credit card and go this summer!
as i pointed out, we first went in 2007 and payed for it with a CC, got home, paid some of it off, then by the time the next booking came around, it was back to 4K, same has happened a few times now, 4K isnt alot in todays world

I agree with you but I have lived my life with the attitude that if it isn't a necessity and I haven't got the money to pay for it then I won't have it.
I wouldn't get into debt for a holiday .
Credit cards can be the start of a slippery slope if you are not careful .

We won't book an holiday until we have the full amount to pay for it. I am a stress head and worry about everything so if I had debt I don't think I would cope very well and then I would not enjoy my holiday.
My friend however lives off credit cards and thinks nothing of putting a couple of thousand on one towards an holiday etc.
Everyone is different and only you knows what you can afford etc

Surely that depends though, to some £4k is a huge amount of debt to others its a months wage its relative.

As for having £40k debt and being happy with it, well madness, only takes a loss of a job and they could lose everything.

Debt is a personal choice, but £4k debt for a 2 week holiday that's over in the blink of a eye doesn't seem sensible to me specially with such a young family as the OP has.

you are only on this planet once, yes sure as you are taking a young baby to disney they will not remember it, so you will have to go again

you can also think of 6yr old DD, she is a ideal age to enjoy WDW for all it is worth

whack it on a CC, get another one and 0% it for 18 / 24 months, pay if of ASAP

life is too short
Totally agree with this! Lost too many people far too young. If it's manageable to pay it off then I would go for it.

life is definately too short and I agree with grabbing opportunities where you can but it's also too short to be saddled with the stress of debt, I think so anyway.

Money aside, I am a pretty organised person in normal life but after having my first baby I couldn't get out of my own road most days...I think she must have been about 10 weeks old before I had time to brush my own hair

I am not suggesting that this is what will happen to you by any means but when you are pregnant with your first baby it's easy to convince yourself that the baby will just slot into your life when what usually happens is that the baby arrives and takes over your life...in a good way obviously . But it can take some getting used to.

I think the wee one might enjoy the holiday better when they are a wee bit older and if they enjoy it more, you will too

This sums up my thoughts. 4K is a lot of debt yes. It is relative though as some people would struggle to meet the monthly payments or only pay interest etc. I think those on the dibb who travel frequently may be better financially but I can't say it's ok to advocate debt because I don't know people's personal finances. A baby and a drop to maternity pay would be a struggle for most people without 4K of debt.

I suppose my point is, if you can pay £4K back quickly, then fair enough, why not just save the cash if it's not much of a big deal?

Alternatively if you can't pay £4K back quickly sticking it on a credit card isn't good advice.
