Booking.com - RPR Refund - any experience?

Hi have RPR booked via Booking.com for August. It was a fully cancellable booking - made on 1st Jan. Cancelled on 5th.

No refund to date. Anybody else cancelled and how long did it take for a refund?

Booking.com just says contact the hotel, but no further details.

Cancelled because found cheaper option via e-bookers - so dont want to accidentally cancel the wrong one with the hotel. I dont have the normal RPR booking number, I only have the Booking.com one which, I seem to recollect, RPR wont have.

Suggestions ?

I would never use Booking.com again
Booked a hotel which was pay on arrival and could be cancelled by a certain date.
Card details had to be added to hold booking only or so they said.
I cancelled well in the time limit and thought it was all fine.

Then came my hotel booking date and a see a charge well 2 charges actually
One for the hotel
One for parking at the hotel

The hotel I cancelled and never even went to but charged for parking.
Contacted booking.com who said they will have to contact the hotel.

They never got back to me this went on and on and on.
Then they said the hotel will refund 50% WHAT WHY I cancelled and never stayed there.

So time to contact my bank booking.com contested it and said I never cancelled.
I had deleted my email saying hotel cancelled about six month after I cancelled but the hotel booking date had not passed.
I had no proof I cancelled.

STUNG That hurt and was a lesson learned.

Ouch ! That would really really tick me off too.
I will ensure I keep all my cancellation and confirmation of cancellation emails until after we return. Thank you for the heads-up.

I have used them in the past - no problems, so am hoping for a smooth resolution to this one; but I will keep an eye on my CC

I cancelled my RPR booking with booking.com on 10th November 2016 and Loews refunded my credit card on 16th November. I thought that was pretty quick, hope you get yours sorted soon.

Thank you. Did it happen automatically or did you have to contact Loews?

Definitely chase them up. I had a similar experience to person above. 100% cancelled hotel and was then charged for the nights stay. I know I cancelled it as I had that cancellation remorse when you wonder if you've made a mistake. They wouldn't budge and paid £150 for a stay I never made.
You've got time on your side so check it is all cancelled.

My refund was automatic, I didn't contact Loews at all.

Ok bit weird this one, but glad I followed up !

So booked with RPR - cancelled
Then booked with ebookers - current booking.

Two deductions show on my cc. But no refund for the Booking.com one.
After much chasing it turns out that for some reason Booking.com had booked me two rooms (under different booking numbers) - but only taken payment for one night.

Unbeknownst to me when I cancelled the Booking.com one it cancelled the one I hadnt paid for, so no £££ due back. The other booking.com booking which I hadn't made but was recorded against my name was still showing. Now cancelled both.

So bottom line, check and double check !

Shall wait and see if the refund now turns up - otherwise I will be in contact with booking.com to have a little word or two
