Upgrading Moderate to Deluxe - DDP?

If I booked a moderate resort for 2018 with free dining (assuming this is offered again in April!), and then upgraded to a deluxe resort at a later date, after the free dining offer had ended, would I still keep the free dining, and would it be upgraded from QSDP to DDP? Or would I have to pay the cost of upgrading the dining, as well as the difference in room price?

We want to book early enough to get the free dining and gift card, but are not quite sure if the budget will allow for a deluxe resort yet. I was hoping that if we were to book a moderate in April (possibly CBR), we could hopefully upgrade next year if we had the extra cash to spare!

Yes you would get upgraded dining plan and wouldn't have to pay anything extra other than the difference in room price at the time you booked. This is assuming you book direct with Disney.

Hi, We previously booked Port Orleans FQ during the free dining offer and then decided to change the booking to Wilderness Lodge after the free dining offer was finished. We paid the additional cost of upgrading the hotel and the QSDP was changed to DDP at no extra cost. There is an administration fee of £50 for changing your booking but this is only if your change makes your holiday cheaper, there is no charge if the change makes the holiday more expensive. This was the year before last so hopefully it is still the same.
