Mobile How many days in parks

Hi, we are looking to go in August 2017 with four kids aged 15,13,12 and 11. I've been before but the kids haven't. How many days do you think for the parks? I'm thinking they may not need a whole day in the four main Disney parks. As we all pay as adults, any savings we can make will be a big help. I'm thinking we could just go for day tickets?

We need more than 4 days at Disney, much more. But not bothered about the other parks and will just do 1 or 2 days in universal.

Have a look at magic your way tickets. Something like a 6day base ticket might work for you.
Single day tickets are expensive and rarely your best option.

Looking at the ages of the kids they might lean slightly towards the thrills of Universal / Seaworld...

As said above, individual day tickets are an expensive option!

Depending on the individual park and time of year you might need either less or more than a day per park!

You can buy base tickets with Orlando Attractions on the tickets forum section.
They are listed under Disney Tickets Worldwide.
I just looked at 7 day with fun options ( no hopping) and found the UK 14 day ultimate to be very similar in price which is a much better ticket.
Just be aware that Magic your way might not be the best way to go due to poor dollar exchange rate.

The ages of the kids is perfect for all the parks IMO.

August is a busy time too, which means longer queues and less attractions visited in a day.

You need two days for Universal and IoA at least. Let's not forget the all new Volcano Bay water park in 2017.

Disney is one day per park at least IMO, and again there are two terrific Disney water parks.

I can't imagine day tickets will be better than UK specific tickets of multiple days.

I agree with others that there's plenty to occupy kids of that age range across all the parks. The UK only multi day tickets often work out the best value.

If you book Universal, make sure you get the park to park tickets so you can ride the Hogwarts Express. I'd say two days at Universal in August is the minimum to spend there. If you have Harry Potter fans in the family, you can pretty much fill a day exploring Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley alone!

If you really don't think you'd get value for money out of Disney tickets, take a look at what each park has to offer and pick one or two to visit using the MYW tickets. I agree that trying to do them all is pretty expensive!

OK, so had a look at some tickets and booked an overnight stay at universal to get access to the express passes and I am thinking the following:
4 days disney - 1 day per park
4 days universal - we are all harry potter and jurassic park fans
3 days at water parks - including Volcano bay
2 rest/shopping days.
How does that sound?

Sounds great

I'd say you don't need 4 days at Universal, 3 is plenty, and you can do it in 2 if you plan well and hit the parks early. Especially if you have express passes as well. Others may completely disagree of course. I'm only saying this because Disney is so vast and so much to see, it can be useful to have one extra day to go check out the things at Disney you might not have been able to see in the one day per park.

Love the idea of express passes, and that all depends on time of year, in terms of how useful they will be. I've never found I need them for Universal at the least busy times that we go. HHN though... that needs express passes of some kind. Huge queues.

Can't wait to see Volcano Bay

EDIT: I meant to also say that we never spend whole days at water parks. We tend to hit the parks first thing, and once the crowds pick up we shoot off to a water park for a few hours

Hope that helps.
