Glad you found the trippie helpful.

No, we didn’t find crossing the traffic a problem at all. Occasionally we waited to pull out across the traffic, but it was never for very long. The road wasn’t that busy.

In 2015 we drove from SF to Pismo - great drive with stunning views - my main regret - not having picnic type stuff in the car - we did the drive in 1 day - would have liked to stop longer for breaks and look at scenery instead of being in restaurants - which we stopped at twice.

In 2016 we drove from Manhattan up to Santa Barbara with a stop off for a walk along Zuma Beach. This was a less enjoyable drive than the drive South I thought, and in fact we ended up on Highway 101 for a large part - maybe my directions were poor - I'm still not sure about that.

But I agree with others - the direction you are travelling in will not make any difference.

For this year I am trying to use Garmin Basecamp on the PC to put pre planned routes on my Sat Nav.
