Old Town area safe?
Afternoon all.
Quick question here. We're staying a 10 min walk from Old Town at Regal Oaks and are thinking of doing the car show one night. Is it safe to walk about around there? You hear stories lol Thanks Chris

Why do you think it is particularly unsafe? What are you scared of?
To put things in perspective, there are 3,000 people killed and 250,000 injured in road traffic accidents in Florida - so going anywhere near a road is very dangerous, even in a car (only 20% of the deaths are pedestrians), so perhaps you should stay in bed! Or are you worried about being shot? There are occasionally shootings in other places tourists go to, e.g. the Florida Mall car park, or IDrive, but the target is rarely a visitor. If you are interested in the facts, you can google for crime stats and maps showing where incidents have been recorded. Basically, the rule is the same as anywhere else - just be sensible. |

Just as safe as any other tourist area in USA, we go every time we are in Florida which is at least twice a year, I have never felt uncomfortable and love the atmosphere and great vibe about the place.

Just watch out for the arcade machine I read about on here where you pull the lever to electrocute the prisoner in the chair. I'd love a go on that, as per Black Mirror.
