I bought 2 new iPads when we were last out in 2015 (1 as a surprise for DH). Staples had a great deal in the August which saved me over £330 (beat all the other deals available from the other retailers). they also offered a $100 trade in for an old iPad on top but we wanted to keep my old one for DD.

We will be looking again this year and taking DD’s to trade in if they offer it again as it would have worked out as a 2 for 1 deal and still cheaper than just 1 in the uk 👍🏻

We’ve never had a problem with either iPad but it was a small niggle in the back of my mind however, which ever way we looked at it, it was a gamble worth taking.

I hope you find the deal you’re looking for.

Let us know how you get on and have a fab holiday

I was told today by my DD that warranties only transfer between countries if article was purchased in an Apple Store. I can't verify but is perhaps something to look into.

Also, I did a dummy purchase from UK Apple online on a 9.7 32g iPad with my in perfect condition iPad 3 in part exchange. I was offered £90.

I am getting/have got a 9.7 from Apple in Florida Mall. Will advise on the cost when I know it, probably tomorrow, if anyone is interested.

Me and my sister are looking at buying new I pads and part exchanging our old ones. Will the apple shop transfer everything over for us and do we have to book an appointment to get this done ?

Nothing needs transferring. If I have this right, you sign into your new iPad through the Cloud. So go into Settings and click in the box at the top of the list on the left side of the page. Sign in there. That is what I did.

Thanks Jan. My husband died 6 months ago and there are videos on there of him that I don't want to lose, however I know the old one will need everything removed from it

You could use airdrop to move them to another iPad or iPhone then put them back on your new one

Depends on how much iCloud storage you have, basic is 5gb so unless you pay for extra, not everything will be backed up.

I always take a full image of my iPad / iPhone and restore that to a new device.

This isn't necessarily correct as it depends on a number of things.
1. Has iCloud syncing been activated - this is done on a per type basis
2. Is there enough iCloud storage to save everything.

The above could be unlikely for video as these can be huge.

My advice is to try and take everything off the existing iPad now before doing anything. And check anything important; and check it again.
You can do this to a laptop. I would also do it to another cloud platform as well is I had multiple copied of important stuff.
I would never just rely on iCloud to copy anything important.

Also you done have to sync through iCloud to your new iPad, this can be done directly between devices (as long as they are both at a certain iOS version that allows this.

I can not emphasise enough to sort all this out before buying your new iPad. Once you trade your old one in, it and everything on it will be gone. I would not be waiting for this to be done in the shop - especially as you have important stuff on there that you dont want to risk losing.
