Monterey Bay and Santa Barbara hotels
Hi planning our West coast trip for this Sept, 3 adults no kids wanting to stay at Monterey Bay for a couple of nights and a night at Santa Barbara. Please can anyone give us some good hotel recommendations as there are so many to chose from. Many thanks

We’ve booked the Hotel Abrego in Monterey and the Marina Beach Motel in Santa Barbara after lots of research and recommendations.

Seconded.
Hotel Abrego in Monterey was lovely, we stayed there for my wife's 40th in October. Had a fire in the room (didn't need it fortunately), and they gave my wife chocolates and wine for her birthday. Nice easy walk into town, or there's a Denny's pretty much next door Eagle Inn in Santa Barbara was nice, we were only there for 1 night, but everything was nice.

Thank you for the replies so far. I’ve just found Hotel Pacific which looks nice, has anyone stayed there?

Marina Beach motel in Santa Barbara is good value. Free breakfast. Kitchen in room and patio. There are a few other hotels on the same street - West Beach Inn, Lavender Inn, Castillo Inn but they were all much more expensive for our dates.
There are a lot of budget motels and chain hotels up the north end of State Street but they are further from the beach. There's a trolley that goes from the pier along State Street for .50c per person but it stops about 1-2 miles from those motels so you would have to use your car to get about. |
