Next box to tick on the to do list is to get the whale watching trip booked.

Hi we used sanctuary cruises at moss landing, great trip and attentive marine biologist on board. On our trip we had lots of humpbacks and dolphins which of course helps. If any of your party are wary of seasickness they hire out wrist bands and nobody was sick

I've booked Sanctuary for our trip in August, based on reading a lot of reviews!

I think ours lasted about 2.5 hours. I can’t remember having the choice if I’m honest of a longer trip, but I’d have opted for the shorter one during the booking process, purely down to my motion sickness - I’d been seriously worried about that beforehand.
We chose the afternoon trip as we felt it might be a bit warmer at that time of day.

An excerpt from my recent trip report of our trip at Easter.
Day 5. Monterey bay whale watch left from Fishermens wharf at 0900 for a 4 hour trip. The ship was 'Blackfin' and the Marine Biologist, 'Will'. Before we had even left the harbour, we had seen Sea otters and Sealions. Within 25 minutes we were seeing numerous spouts and were very close to Humpback whales. The commentary was informative and very helpful. We eventually ended up around 14 miles offshore and in a pod of 200 plus Risso's Dolphins. On return, we were just about bang on time to reach the jetty at 1300, when two Gray Whales were sited and investigated, resulting in a 25 minute overrun. This reflected the enthusiasm of Captain and crew to provide just that little bit extra, which was obviously gratefully received. A highly reccomended trip that yielded sightings of 10x Humpbacks, 2 x Grays, 200 plus Risso's, Sealions, 2 x Albatross and Sea Otters. Needless to say, I would reccomend this trip very highly.

Apparently if you struggle with sickness, morning is better.
