Port Orleans Riverside for Honeymoon
As there is this specific area for honeymooners, thought I'd post a question here as I'm totally out of my depth!
My responsibly is booking honeymoon so we are spending a week in Bahamas June 2018 before flying up to Orlando. Only in Disney for a week (from 14th eve to 21st eve), its our first time and want to do a semi nice hotel. Have been looking at POR with potential upgrade from quick service dp to regular DDP. I've read that POFQ is smaller and quieter - would this suite honeymoon better or as not spending lots of time there, won't really matter? Unfortunately I misjudged Disney cost and booked bahamas half first so now I feel like Im juggling options a bit without wanting to jeopardise the experience. Thanks, Adam |

I think it's a beautiful resort. The rooms aren't luxury but the surroundings are really green and lush. Dining wise it's a big canteen!
Being in Disney for your honeymoon will be amazing wherever you stay. If that's what's in your budget go for it!

Either resort is nice. There is a lounge and TS restaurant at Riverside. I would definitely do the DDP upgrade if you can. I don't find QS meals remotely romantic for an evening meal!

We booked the POFQ for our Honeymoon next September, we decided we would prefer a quieter resort and after loads of recommendations we went with the FQ.
I believe the rooms at the POFQ are getting upgraded up until May 2018 so they will be nice and new after then. Either one looks lovely though. Lauren |

I've just come back from my wedding trip and we stayed at POFQ. It was amazing, beautiful resort and so quiet. It didn't feel like hardly anyone was staying there, even though it was full. The food court was never busy and they make food fresh. I normally stay in All-Star Sports but I don't think I could go back to it now!
We did walk over to Riverside and although it's still a very beautiful resort, because it's so much bigger, there were much more people about, which made it lose some of that romantic feel.

We stayed at French Quarter rather than Riverside for our honeymoon and really liked the setting of it. I'd stayed there previously so knew what to expect. However; if I was paying to upgrade the dining plan, I'd probably stay at SSR instead. Plus I prefer to be able to walk to Disney Springs rather than catch the boat (although the boat is lovely every now and again).

Well thanks to all replies - I booked POR a couple of weeks ago (before all the recent ones about POFQ) so now will just have to wait and see... Im sure it'll be lovely regardless... And this is our 'busy' last week of the honeymoon so maybe the hustle and bustle will be good

We stayed at POR for our honeymoon in June. It was beautiful and we were upgraded to a River View room. We didn't fall in love with the resort but I think that's because it was so busy as a lot were moved to POR from CBR when we were there.
It is lovely and very romantic! |
