If you want to cram in as much as possible, get the New York Pass.
We had it for 3 days, it comes with 2 days of HOHO bus and entry to 90+ attractions, some having Fast Entry.
We went to 10 attractions in our 3 days and saved $100 on standard prices

Just back from NY and thought I would update with how we got on with the Explorer Pass (from ATD). We brought the 7 attraction ticket which we used over 5 days. Cost was £114 per person.

E-Tickets which I printed at home.

What we did ...
1. Used the pass to book 'The Ride' in advance and printed separate booking confirmation for this.
2. Top of the Rock Observatory - visited attraction to book time slot (we had choice of 1hr later but we actually choose to leave it a couple of hours so we had time to eat/shop beforehand.)
3. Empire State Building Observatory, show pass on arrival
4. 9/11 memorial, show pass on arrival
5. Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, show pass to obtain tickets on arrival
6. Harbor Lights Cruise, show pass on arrival (at least 45 mins before cruise) +$10 pp extra at ticket office
7. Hop On Hop Off Big Bus, show pass for ticket at one of 4 designated stops.

All in all, we found the Explorer Pass very easy to use and have worked out we saved about £80 each over on-the-door prices. Would recommend and would use again.
