Apart from the scary toilet incident it sounded like a fantastic day. That is a lot of walking you did. Well done for persevering in the cold! The Freedom Trail looks fascinating, certainly one for the bucket list

It was an interesting day and the toilet was just bizarre!

I'm exhausted, you had a great walk round Boston. The photos look great especially the walk to the Diner before the trail starts, I bet the lady talked about you crazy people walking all day...your obviously have the traumatic toilets to treasure instead! I think you all did fantastic in the cold, my face feels freezing at the thought of it.

I reckon you are right, it was a proper locals diner and they were friendly, but I can imagine she told her locals about the crazy English people who are thinking of walking downtown to do the trail.

It was worth it in the end. I think we are hardy now, we can walk for miles in the Florida heat and this has prepared us for walking miles in the freezing cold... We were a bit more sensible as time went on, but you've already seen that.

That is a lot of walking! What a day.

My husband and I just played the President's vs. Prime Ministers game. (We are American.)

We got all the president's except Arthur and Hayes (I had no idea there was a president Arthur...), but did quite poorly on Prime Ministers: Blair, Cameron, May, Thatcher, Chamberlain, Eden, Churchill, Macmillan,Brown. If I hadn't just watched The Crown, I'd have done worse.

It really was a fab day.

That game was funny at dinner, we were not surprised that they know some Presidents but we were that they didn't know more PMs. I guess it's just not something that we teach as much in our schools. I wonder how many kings or queens they would be able to name? Perhaps that is more what they have been taught in school and more ingrained in the culture here.

You and your husband did well though, I haven't ever heard of Arthur either!

At work a few weeks ago we challenged ourselves to name all the American states, we managed it pretty easily, but we are a bunch of know-it-alls! I'm not sure we'd fair as well if we tried to name all the British counties.

Oh, Kings and Queens is another good naming game!

When I was pregnant and we walked 5-10k each evening because of the gestational diabetes, we would name things. Husband found it amusing to see me try to list athletes from certain sports. I did not do well.

Sounds great fun, not the gestational diabetes, the list games... I do love a list!

Wow, what a mammoth walking day! I'm not surprised you ached. We're planning a Boston trip, but in May/June time rather than winter, so it should be a fair bit warmer! We've have decided to use the hop on/hop off bus to see some of the sites to help save our legs a bit
