Assuming you have booked economy then I would guess that you will be put in to Economy classic.

Wouldn't surprise me. If that is the case I won't be flying with VA again!

I am literally in the process of rebooking our seats now for Jan 2019. Does this mean I shouldn't bother? Or should I just get it booked to beat the rush when they become free?

I would book them because surely when the tiered option becomes available most people will book the "classic" which will mean that on the free seat options there will be less seats to choose from?

You have to laugh really. Whilst Ryanair and easy jet are pushing out all stops to improve their image and flights it appears the big carriers are not taking notice to how people have felt travelling with these low cost carriers. People will still turn up with 2 cases each weighing over 10 kg etc etc. And Virgin or ba will the go down the road of saying only the fist 50 or 60 passengers can carry on their cases. Everyrthing else in the hold. imagine the bad publicity turning away a family of five going to the fun state because they are 5kg overweight in their cases . Everyone has seen it at Ryanair checkin when families are emptying cases and layering themselves with clothes just to board.
Let's hope a freddy laker turns up shortly.

Ive just had an online chat to them about our holiday in 2019,

I was told I would be put into the classic section which includes free seat selection 331 days before departure.

But nothing can be upgraded till Spring time when they new scheme comes into place

Does anyone know if I have booked seats if I can get my money back if we will be enrolled into the classic section with free seat selection anyway?
