Im wondering how they can get away with it? Sounds like some sort of discrimination. re-searching people just because they need to use the lift due to their disabilities.
surely everyone should be re searched again?

I think you are reading far too much into this. Years ago all international passengers did go through screening on arrival before they were allowed to enter the satellite terminal and then take the monorail to the main building. This was because they mixed with domestic passengers. They then changed the layout to keep international passengers separate until after the monorail.

Due to the construction, disabled passengers are using a different lift and can no longer be kept separate from domestic. It sounds like a temporary make shift solution to me not discrimination against the disabled.

When we arrived last July, wheelchair users were directed to a lift that could only be operated by a staff member so that we would be accompanied at all times. It sounds like they have simply had to make another change as work has progressed.

We don't want to do 2nd bag drop. Would we be able to leave our special assistance wheelchairs at the bottom of the escalators? Not had to use special assistance before.

It will be quite a walk without them. Definitely not recommended for anyone needing special assisstance in the first place.

Sounds like they have changed things again, normally DH goes up the stairs and someone takes me up in the lift as I'm in my scooter to meet DH don't fancy being rechecked again, might give DH and rest of the party my bags, I've got one with medication and injections in it, 😎😎

At the height of terror issues after 911, even those on the escalator had to go through security again

I remember those days Donna!

Anyone been recently who has experienced the security for those using the lift?

OH has to use the lift so trying to decide whether to do 2nd bag drop or attempt the escalator by myself with all luggage.

When we used it we just put the bags through scanner, they didn't swab wheelchair or anything so it didnt take too long but the annoying thing was they took the couple of bottles of water we had as they were over 100ml

I totally agree.
The walk to the shuttle tgen to the cars is a long way.
Also, others will see you using the service to get through security and customs then dropping in their eyes, the disability at the escalator.

As someone who has to have the special assistance to second baggage collects I might feel the same too to be absolutely honest. the

DH used it when we arrived on 21st April.
Very helpful special assistance, chap took 2 of my cases up escalator, 1 had the other case & DS had cabin bag. He then went back down to get my DH in his wheelchair, they went for 2nd screening but didn't take long at all. Special assistance did say it can take some time depending on how many wheelchair users are in the queue.
