Mobile Mobility scooter hire?

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to hire a mobility scooter in Orlando/wdw?

Just thinking for the older family members who may struggle with the walking!

You can either rent them in each park - approx $50/day or get one for the length of your stay (or more than one day anyway) - the latter is better for going to shops, etc but means it will take up space in your rental car. If there's a problem, the on-site ones are easier to sort out, but cost a lot more (on average per day).

Another villa owner I know rented from K&M Rentals - a four-wheeled go go scooter for $125 first week, then $10/day after - they will usually deliver to your hotel/villa depending where you are staying. If too far out you would have to collect.

km-rentals/

We used Yellow Scooters and had trouble with the battery, bad advice from a new member of staff and ending up still having to rent one at Disney, so not keen on them.

There are a few other companies as well, but that one has been tried (though not by me). My mom prefers to rent in the parks in case things go wrong and we don't go out every day.

Even if privately rented - if you need to charge in the parks (you shouldn't normally) then you can do so by finding an outlet and plugging in - they don't mind.

There are some places - like the steam train at Disney - where you have to leave the scooter where you got on, or e.g. Pirates of the Caribbean where you have to leave it and transfer to a manual wheelchair (or walk), but others like It's A Small World where you can go on sitting in the wheelchair

Universal & SeaWorld allow you to prebook - Universal can rent you a cover for $10 more which is fab in the heat!

Disney don't allow you to book and can run out by mid-morning...also you have to hand back at one park then pick up another at the next park if you park hop in a single day so again, they can run out so this is another good reason for a third party rental but it depends

Walmart has scooters at the entrance they can use for shopping free of charge as do a few other places

We're also booking with K&M as after doing a fair bit of research reference prices, reputation and customer service they seemed to shine through. They have a facebook page and are quick to answer any questions.
There is a whole section on this topic in the special needs section on here.

I used Buena Vista last year and was pleased with the scooter - I was staying at Disney and the scooter was waiting for me when I arrived.
