DVC sale notarisation

My DVC sale is going through, am at stage where forms will shortly need to be notarised... can anyone advise typically how much they have paid for this, information on notary public in my area of country is hard to find.

I paid £80 for a notary public to stamp and apply his official seal to mine.

I'm not saying that we never done it but we certainly never organised it this side, it must have been done stateside because all we did was pay the deposit & then full payment.

I got the impression the OP was selling not buying? I didn't need a notary to buy, but it was essential in the selling process.

Does it definately need to be a notary public or would a solicitor do? I'm sure I read once someone say they got a solicitor to do it instead, but could be mistaken on that.

When a friend of mine sold his DVC he had to get it notarized, a solicitor stamp would not do, it was £80 for the first page and I think £40 per page thereafter, I think he had 4 pages!

He was also caught up in the OKW 15 year extension where even though he didn't extend Disney wanted him to notarize a paper, he refused and of course when he came to sell, it came to bite him in the bottom! Disney still wanted the paper notarized so after a discussion he managed to get the fees taken off his final Dues bill!

I don't think people in USA understand how hard or expensive it can be, I remember once seeing a sign in Walmart over there that they offered noroary services! In my City of Cardiff when I last checked there were 2 solicitors that could do it.

Thanks folks... yes I am selling, and have been advised need to be by notary public alas, not a solicitor. Best get looking!

We sold one of our DVC contracts last year. I just googled nearest solicitor that notarised documents. Luckily one in our local town, cost £140. Very easy to make an appointment and took around 30 minutes. She also got two staff to witness our signatures.

You are exactly right about notaries in the US. It is just someone who is registered as a trusted 3rd party to witness signatures. They list the documents in a book so they can testify in court if needed as well. Definitely not just lawyers etc. Every bank, UPS shop, real estate office etc will have someone available. It only costs about $10 as well.

When we needed papers notarised in the UK it was a complete pain and cost £80 15 years ago. A solicitor's stamp will not work instead if a US company wants something notarised.
