We've gone into/out of Newark quite a few times, JFK less often but still a few.
You can be lucky or unlucky at both; security and immigration, transit from the airport to the city etc. Generally I'd probably pick Newark if flight times and price were equal but I'd also consider where my hotel was - if you're near Penn Station or Holland Tunnel Newark is better; if you're over on the East side, JFK. Where is your hotel?

We chose JFK and are going to use the subway from Jamaica to get in to the city. As we will have the weekly MTA pass it's by far the cheapest method (apart from walking of course).
Only time I've been through Newark was when I was staying in NJ so it was the obvious choice.

Hi there, I'm thinking of booking The Parker- Meridian hotel which is West 56th street, South of central park. Is this a good location? Which airport will be better for here? thanks

Thanks for the help, I actually booked the trip last night and went with JFK due to slightly better times!

whatever suits you budget/flight times
transfers from either are about the same $$ in my experience both can be great and/or a nightmare, same for any airport to be fair... |
