Nightmare scenario ...Flying 3000 miles across the pond and two weeks spent in Orlando doing various stuff I've done before, like Uni/IOA...Seaworld..Shopping till you drop...And not entering the magic bubble...I wouldn't sleep for months after I got home..When people ask me where I'm going on holiday this year, I don't say America, I don't say Florida, I don't say Orlando...I say with a huge smile on my face, " I'm going home again, to WDW "...Never venture outside into the real world for two weeks...Its my fantasy island..Da Plane..Da Plane..

No Disney means no evening entertainment as we found out last year.

If you are going for the coasters then Universal will be disappointing as they only have three now. Sea World @ BG have the best big rides

I’d prefer option 1 but would go for option two if necessary. No Disney isn’t an option.

We did one once. Went in June 2008 but only for a week.

Did Universal, BG, SW and shopping.

Had a great time however not sure I could ever go all that way and not do at least one day in MK

I debated this we could get a flight and villa for same price as Europe but Disney puts prices up. I'm not sure I could go to Orlando and not do Disney.

Totally agree. City walk is too “young” for us and we ended up on Idrive as Downtown Disney was too far.

Disney has got it perfect IMHO

We are edging towards a no Disney trip next year. 2016 we did a three week all parks and beach trip, 2017 two weeks onsite at POR, 2018 no Florida as we’re having an extension, 2019 your option 3 but with 3/4 nights hrh and doing discovery cove as my youngest will be old enough to swim with the dolphins then 2020 back to the Disney bubble for two weeks.
We love Disney but I’m keen to mix things up and let the kids experience different sides to Orlando/Florida BUT as we are going in October next year we will do MNSHP so not completely Disney free haha and we will go to Disney Springs.
I’m looking forward to staying on I drive and having a more relaxed time next year but I know we’re back in Disney in 2020 ready for Star Wars and Toy story land.

My comments are in the context of having visited Florida 21 times which may make a difference...

We just returned from our second trip with no Disney tickets for the main parks - we did another in 2016. As big WDW fans we actually really enjoy having a much more relaxed pace. We buy an annual water parks tickets which costs around £100 each and then spend four or five days at the water parks - we love them.

We supplement this with days by the pool (we stayed at the Rosen Plaza this time), a few trips usually in the evenings to Disney Springs and some shopping at the outlets. We also love to visit some of the resorts so this time we booked a meal at Beaches and Cream and then wandered around the Boardwalk and watched the Epcot Fireworks, visited Wilderness Lodge eating at Geyser Point Grill and having a drink by the lake and - the best one of all - visited the Polynesian and had a drink at the Tiki Terrace listing to the Hawaiian music, watching the electrical parade on the lake and then watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks over the castle. If you do all this you don't have a problem with finding things to do in the evening.

By the time we have done all that, we find we really enjoy this kind of holiday. It's just a different pace to our full on all parks trips and highly recommended!

I'm probably not the best person to ask about this

We desperately tried to do a Florida 'no Disney' trip. Even to go as far as to fly into Fort Lauderdale and and not go anywhere near Orlando for two weeks...

Apart from when I realised we had 'flex' tickets and I ended up changing our flights home to 6 days later and booking 5 nights at the Dolphin... Whoops!
