UA Annual Pass Holder - VB+HHN?

We followed the advice on here and upgraded to the basics annual passes for universal

What's the best/cheapest way to now purchase
1 Day Volcano Bay
Halloween Horror nights (I believe they only do the 1 night+1 free compared to last year could go on selected nights within your 14 day ticket window)

Is it cheaper to buy at the gate or order from the likes of ATD and TR before going

1+1 HHN $77.99pp

first of all, check that VB is not blacked out for your dates

then consider that upgrading to a 3 parks AP costs $99 + tax, when a regular 1 day ticket to VB costs $80+ + tax

so 2 visits, even for just a swim or eats, and you come ahead

then for HHN you can get passholder discounts (check your AP level qualifies) but those are not out yet
you won't get discount on the 1 night + 1 free yet. The AP discounted tickets are specific and you might not get the 1+1 free
so wait until the AP discounts come out, and then decide if it's best to use your AP or to buy on the side.

buying ahead of time costs slightly less than buying at the gate. And for HHN you don't risk the party being sold out when you are there.

I will always book direct with Uni (or WDW)
