definitely a trend thing, the airline pricing system is completely automatic and will raise prices depending on many different factors, demand being one of the main driving forces. I was hoping that 2019 the demand would drop off due to the poor value of the £, we will have to wait and see!

However this years prices for the same dates I had last year are about the same.

Generally, direct flights to Orlando from Manchester are around £1k per adult from 21/7 to 20/8.

Any return date in early September significantly reduces the cost.

They must sell at £1k+ otherwise we would see empty planes

No you’re right, I’ve looked at so many. Those are going by 2018 prices. TC and TUI are coming out pretty much the same for 2019z

The only way around it to my knowledge is :
A) fly at a different time of year which is perhaps impossible with kids.
B) Book some sort of package deal probably based on charter flights with Tui or Thomas Cook... but even this, in August, probably won't be much cheaper.
C) Perhaps fly into NYC or Chicago and then add on a 'low cost' internal flight down to Orlando but it can become very complicated mixing airlines and perhaps not worth the effort!

Cheers
You’ve missed the obvious D). Book an indirect flight with one airline. No need to add a low cost internal. Just book from your local airport to Orlando or tampa and consider all routing options.
We’ve changed in NYC, Atlanta, Paris and Amsterdam. All on one booking. Quite straightforward and always less than £500.

BA indirect with car hire was very reasonable last year. They seem to offer better rates if you add a hotel or car hire and make it a holiday. Definitely worth a look.

The cheapest I could get this year with Virgin from Manchester was with through netflights at £1080pp. This is for last week in July and first week in august.
There were cheaper indirect flights but with a 6, 8 and 10 year old in toe we wanted to fly direct from Manchester to save aggro.

The prices are eye watering!

We flew direct Man - Orlando with Virgin 6th - 30th August last year for £720 each. It was the early flight and we had been watching prices through Netflights, they suddenly dropped and we booked 7 seats ( 3 different bookings) all within 5 mins. Never saw them drop that far again but were around for a couple of days. We booked on 11th of October to fly in August.
