Maiden Voyage Disney Dream Photo Report

So, on the 26th January 2011, we board the Disney Dream as the first paying passengers. Excitement is rife of course but it’s then made even better for us as a friend from the US gives us his spare Number 1 boarding card!
I had grand plans of taking photos of absolutely everything, but it just didn’t happen. I was so busy trying to take it all in that the camera didn’t come out often! Add to that I was poorly and, well, we’ll go with what we’ve got and see where it takes us.

I suppose you want to look at our room then? Oh ok, here you go ...
The new digital Ipod docking clocks in each stateroom.

The doorway to our bathroom (please note, no step or lip)

Inside the bathroom

From the main door inwards

From the veranda towards the main door (bathroom door on right)

And the veranda

Wave Phones (fantastic)

For anyone not knowing, we were upgraded for free to Room 9670 which is probably going to be amended to be a full handicap room. Right now, it has full wheelchair access (ramps, no steps or lips), but has no bars to assist standing/sitting for the bathroom, no seat in the shower, no auto door opener and no doorbell. This would be easily sorted by DCL though so I wouldn’t pin your hopes on getting this room unless you can prove a registered disability (they apparently do ask you to prove it now which is good).

Contd ...

Part 2 ..

I won’t do this as a day by day account if you don’t mind, I’ll just put groups of photos together, probably easier that way and much less boring for you! So, let’s go tour the boat!

Here is the atrium statue for the Dream ... Admiral Donald.

For those who are wondering why Admiral Donald is littered with little ‘dolls’, these are the Flatties. The Flatties are flat people with head shots of the following friends glued on: Vron, Leanne, Tracey, Paula, Sue and Allie. We recently ‘attended’ Leannes wedding in Florida, so it was only right that they all came on the Maiden Voyage! Any photos you see with colourful Flatties in, that’s them!

Us with Mickey

The staircase leading from the Atrium up to Deck 4

The Atrium from Deck 4 (this is where Shutters is)

Here is the walkway between Animators Palate and the Atrium on Deck 3

Feeling hungry ? The Flatties were so we off we went for food ...

And inside

And the video (Crush was talking to Jessica who joined us for the evening as her parents were in Palo .. they were at an adjoining table). If you click him, it should take you to my Photobucket account to play it. I don't know how to do it otherwise.

Here is The Enchanted Garden from outside

And inside

Light fitting at night in EG (during day they close)

A booth in EG (they seated up to 5 and that would be a squeeze)

Nom nom .. Trio Dessert in EG

The fountain inside EG (at night)

Contrary to what I thought, the EG does not change from daylight to night while you are eating. If you go there during the day, it’s daytime, if you go in the evening, it’s night! Easy.

Our servers in RP formal wear (Yvann from France and Murat from Turkey .. brilliant fun)

A carved chair back in RP

And more desserts it seems

Ready to go outside now for a look around?

Here’s Mickey’s pool (Donalds pool just to the left of the lounging people)

And Donald’s pool (very close to Mickey’s pool isn’t it?)

Seating above Quiet Cove (this particular area is not adult only but there is a bit nearby that is)

And turning slightly to the left (Quiet Cove adult pool is on the deck below, you can see the gap)

The Flatties sunbathing .. lovely comfy chairs and the pillow moves up and down!

What did you say? You wanna ride the Aquaduck?! Oh go on then, if we must! (click on photo to show film)

The Flatties were brave and rode on their own!

And here’s Donald riding it (with a CM as he wasn’t brave). Click on photo to show film.

The Aquaduck from the shore (man that’s high up! )

And one more

So that’s all I’ve got of the outside really. I did do a stateroom tour and here are some of those photos with stateroom category.

First off, the maps on the carpets so you can tell which way you’re headed (I still couldn’t!)

Here’s room 7033, a Cat 11b Inside Stateroom

Another 11b .. this time 7689

A Cat 9a .. 8002

8504. A cat 9a and one of the best ones in my opinion. A corner room so it’s really well set out.

The flatties visit Concierge!

Bedroom of 11002 (1 bed suite Concierge. Cat T)

Bathroom of 11002

Lounge of 11002

I did take video of the Royal Suite but it hasn’t uploaded properly. I’ll keep trying, but just so you know I’m not fibbing, here is the proof!

Lastly, here are a few randoms
Don ‘Ducky’ Williams, Disney’s Chief Animator (for commercials). We got one of his original lithographs as a present and luckily got it signed too.

Can you guess who it is yet?

Here’s a few he made earlier

Aft

You can ‘see’ our room from this photo, well, kind of. If you look at the flag, then go 2 decks up and towards the right. Our balcony was that huge corner one!
