Thanks everyone, we are now safely home. Everything was smooth and straightforward which was a pleasant change, compared to some of our nightmare journeys home via Stansted, NYC and even France via the Eurostar!
Trying to stay awake so will attempt to complete our munching memories! Thanks again to everyone who has read and commented. Mrs P

Today (2nd January) was our last full day. 😢
The grandparents decided they wanted a chilled out morning at the resort and a light breakfast. They bought cereal from the on site shop and sat and ate on the balcony. We decided to head out and have a big breakfast which we can't get back in the UK... Golden Corral Chocolate fountain anyone?! We always laugh about juice roulette here. Never know if it's going to be watered down or syrupy! Today the tropical juice was fine. Phew. Some of our plates... You can't go wrong here. It's cheap and cheerful but there is so much choice including fresh omelettes, fruit, cereal, cookies and salad. No idea who has salad for breakfast?! For 2 adults and 2 children we paid $36. All drinks included. Magic Kingdom Didn't think we would need to have anything until dinner after the amount of calories we consumed, but then this happened... Pineapple Float Mmmmm mmmmm mmmmmm. That's all. Purchased at Aloha Isle Citrus Swirl A partly eaten one! Purchased this at Sunshine Tree Terrace Texas Road House As everywhere seemed busy today plus it was an American bank holiday, we decided to phone the restaurant prior to arriving. They don't take bookings but you can call ahead and your name is put on a list. This was a great idea as by the time we arrived there were lots of people waiting and we were called through to our table within a couple of minutes. Our "last supper" was a highlight and a stand out meal for everyone. Food was absolutely delicious, loved eating and laughing with family, service excellent and thoroughly enjoyed the American vibe. Warm very sweet/cinnamon rolls. I didn't need to put butter on them. The peanuts are also in barrels which you can help yourself to in the waiting area and provided on the table. On the table they provide an extra bucket to put the shells in. Maybe this guy didn't get the rubbish bucket?!?! Everyone who had the ribs said that they were the best ribs they had eaten. The meat just melted off the bone. Kids ranger ribs BBQ chicken combo with ribs Full rack of ribs BBQ chicken combo with sirloin Cheeseburger & chips. Possibly the best I've had. Meat cooked as requested and chips also full of flavour and seasoning. Nom nom nom Excellent all round. Mrs P Edited at 11:00 PM. |

Excited about Disney

Thanks for this brilliant report. We are going on similar dates this/next year (can't believe I can now say "this year"!). You mention a bank holiday - what date was that (3rd Jan?) and is it a bank holiday every year, do you know?

We wanted to try and fit in as much as we could before flying home. At Disney Springs we checked in at the Virgin desk and dropped off our suitcases. Worked out well.
Starring Rolls - Hollywood Studios We grabbed a quick breakfast here for maximum park time. My parents had this Girls chose the same. These breakfasts are only allowed on holiday. Back to cereal or toast tomorrow! We opted for this The M&M chocolate cake was very rich and they agreed they should have shared 1 between 2. Loved sitting outside in the sun eating breakfast in January. Earl of Sandwich - Disney Springs We are big fans of the festive sandwich. We couldn't come all this way and not eat one. Yum yum yum 2 of the family went rogue and ordered the Tuna melt and Hawaiian BBQ instead. I won't be a traitor to the festive sandwich but the mouthful of tuna I had was good! Tried to eeeek out as much sunshine & vitamin D as possible before returning to the UK, but it was so hot we decided to enjoy the aircon inside instead! Very reluctantly headed to the airport. Virgin We liked our first time in the bubble. The extra space to the side provided an ideal place for a lightsaber! As plane food goes, it was ok. We have had far worse. Our fussiest youngest one particularly enjoyed her pasta. Breakfast So that's that. Food fest complete. Final thoughts We have always enjoyed reading other people's reports - it's a great source of information and inspiration. THANK YOU to those who have read along and commented. Hope it's helped a little. I've also enjoyed completing it and eating it all! Thanks again. Mrs P Edited at 12:52 AM. |
