I'm another snorer. I've snored all my life but it had got to the point where I was waking myself choking...or just struggling to get to sleep.
After literally fighting with my GP, I was eventually referred to the sleep clinic and diagnosed with sleep apnoea within 15 mins of falling asleep. I was started with a c-pap that night. My other half couldnt believe it stopped my snoring...so much so that the first night i was home, he came upstairs to check i was still alive! From a personal point of view, it changed my life. I now wake early in the morning actually feeling refreshed, where before I really used to struggle getting up. I'd definitely contact a GP to get your daughters snoring investigated, as if its that loud, she wont be getting a proper sleep either. Edited at 04:03 PM. |

Thanks all...yes shes had her tonsils and adenoids out 2 years ago and ,at first, it made a difference but now shes back to snoring most nights. We're both on a healthy eating plan to try to drop some weight to see if that helps but also struggling to get her asthma balanced, as at 17, shes no longer a child! It doesn't help that DD no2 cannot stand ANY noise esp at night so earplugs have always been the easiest option.

It's a machine with a mask that you put on that, from what I believe, helps to push air into your lungs and regulate breathing. My mum had one to help with her COPD.

It might be a learned behaviour now. Enlarged tonsils and adnoids cause mouth breathing and this can cause snoring. My dd had to learn not to breathe through her mouth after her operation as she didn't know any other way of breathing. My oh also had his tonsils out as a child but too late and he is a mouth breather and snores because of this.
As for your dd I would investigate the sleep apneoa, send her to gp and ask for referral to sleep clinic. |
