DLP and WDW are 2 totally different experiences - one is a European experience and one is an American experience. If you accept this and don't keep comparing them you'll be fine :-)

Is there any counter service you can use your voucher at face value?

We will have one spare voucher one of the days and would love to use it just to get couple portions of chips as a snack or something like that?

Thanks

You will get 3 meal vouchers and 3 breakfast vouchers. When you use them is up to you (although I think breakfast finishes 11 am so you probably wouldn't be there early enough to use it on check in day anyway).

So you could have:

Day 1 lunch or dinner
Day 2 breakfast and lunch or dinner
Day 3 breakfast and lunch or dinner
Day 4 breakfast

Or you could pay OOP for one dinner and use your last voucher for lunch on checkout day. We like to do this as it means we don't need to eat again that day.

I gather the paid meal plans include breakfast at your hotel but the free ones only include a counter service breakfast at various places. When we have had breakfast at our hotel, we tend to eat plenty and then don't get hungry till about 3pm. We sometimes share a CS meal deal then.

You need to order a counter service meal in order to be able to use the half board voucher at its face value - but yes you can use them at the Disney-run counter service restaurants in both parks and the village.
