Magic Kingdom over 2 days-plan

Hi folks

Trying to plan all the things we want to do at each park. We plan on having a much slower pace trip this time and have allowed 2 days at Magic Kingdom, we don't plan on being there all day on either of the days.

What would your perfect day look like in Magic Kingdom arriving early, and then also if you arrived mid day and stayed until late?

What do you think yours would be, having been before? Although looks like it may have been a couple of years since your last visit.

It would also help if you explained who was going to be there, e.g. just adults, with kids - ages etc?

It is some 10 years since we went to Disney, and the last visit seemed to be more about just moving from one ride to the next as quickly as possible.

This will be our last Disney trip for a number of years again, we are 2 adults and 2 kids (11 & 13) . My perfect day would be a slow pace, stopping off at everything, taking in all of the shops on Main Street, finding any little side shows ( not even sure if they do them the same as Universal do).

My question is around things that may happen at different times of the day, the small things others like, maybe a particular refreshment from a certain outlet or area, that kind of thing. I know over the two days we will get on as many rides as we can as we come to them, but I want to be sure we get to see things that may be overlooked, or that happen at one end of the day than the other, or that are better experienced at night than day.

We did this on our last trip and plan to do the same this year. We concentrated on 1/2 the park on each trip which saved a lot of leg work. We never get there early usually after lunch and evening trips for us. On the trip where we just did Fantasy land and Tomorrow land we got the train round the park instead of walking through

We also split our MK park days into two lands each time.
There is a new opening ceremony now that takes place on the stage in front of the castle. You can get into the park from 8am and wander through the Main Street shops before the rest of the park opens.
The Festival of Fantasy parade happens each afternoon 3pm) - the park map shows the parade route. Some stake out a spot hours ahead of time but, imho, you really don't need to!
The evening fireworks will be changing in May (I think) - no longer Wishes - but I expect they will be at the same time.

A MK must have is a dole whip from Aloha Isle - ice cream or ice cream float (delicious pineapple flavour)
