Ideas for staying on the coast but not the beach

Hi

We are looking at staying 4/5 days on the west coast probably based in Clearwater beach but looking for ideas of places to visit , great places to eat ( love seafood and restaurants with great views) etc that don't include spending all day on the beach , we have a car so happy to travel upto an hour ...
Any good ideas ?

Hiya,

Have you thought about a little further down, we did a road trip last year from Orlando , which took us across to cocoa beach, Fort Lauderdale,Miami, key west and a few other places on way back up to Orlando.

Our favourite place bar key West was Naples, only stayed 3 nights but was wonderful, can't recommend inn on fifth highly enough as well.

Nick

we visited Sarasota , did the farmers market and then looked round the shops and had an ice cream at St. Armands Circle , though that may be too far for you from Clearwater . We were staying at Anna Maria .

As others have said do not stay at Clearwater but further down at say Siesta Key. The best parts of the coast lie between St Pete Beach and Naples.

Thanks for this thread! We are going in 2019 for 3 weeks and want a non-Orlando week. We would not be able to sit on a beach all day, every day so want to visit Miami but also want somewhere coastal where there are things to do. Will now check out Naples
